Vehemence : reunited and working on new materialArizona-based melodic death metallers VEHEMENCE have issued a statement confirming that they have reunited and are currently working on material for their fourth full-length album. In a posting on their MySpace.com page, the band said, "Well, we had our 'reunion' show [Saturday] night, and it went over extremely well. Thanks to all that showed up. Nathan [Gearhart, vocals] also announced on stage that we are back together, and working on new material... this is true. However, VEHEMENCE is coming back on our own terms, without any label pressures.. We will be doing very little touring, if any, since we are pretty tied into our lives here in Phoenix. We also have other projects going on...
"Mark [Kozuback, bass], Andy [Schroeder, drums], and Bjorn [Dannov, guitar] are currently working on a new band [THE SYMMETRY IN CHAOS] with Connor Woods (ex-ABIGAIL WILLIAMS vocalist) and KC Bradham (guitar, ex-BRIDES OF CHRIST). Nathan also has his other project [HE WHO BINDS HIMSELF] in the vein of extremely brutal death metal. And John's [Chavez, guitar] band [CURSED IN BLACK] that will soon take over the world.
"So to whoever gives a shit, thanks for supporting VEHEMENCE... We hope to get some new tunes up for you to check out soon."
VEHEMENCE called it quits in early October 2005 after getting dropped by Metal Blade Records, the label that released the band's last two full-length efforts, 2002's "God Was Created" and 2004's "Helping the World to See". Three of the group's members eventually joined ABIGAIL WILLIAMS but quit a short time later.

Unleashed : News and festival updateWarriors !!!
Some bad news first, Anders has been hospitalized for about a week due to a lung-collapse. He's been through some serious pain and literally been to Hell and back.
A few days ago when I spoke to him he had a cord stuck into his lungs through the ribs for repair reasons.
The damn thing left a hole in his body that still hasn't grown together. That's Death Metal for ya' right there folks !!!
However, he is recovering and has now left the hospital with Doctors orders to keep still for a number of weeks. Obviously, he wasn't ready for Valhalla just yet........
We are now looking to find a temporary replacement only for the Metal Mania festival in Poland next week. We will keep you posted on how we succeed in doing just that.
The good news is that Unleashed is now confirmed for the "Bang Your Head !!!" Festival in Balingen, Germany on the 23rd of June. Together with acts like Whitesnake, Helloween and Y&T.
Unleashed will also headline the "Queens of Metal" Open Air festival on the 17th of June in Kleinwenkheim, Germany. We are looking forward to another deathbanging summer !!!
Hail Frey !!!

Belphegor : back from MoscowHelmuth comments:
Well, we just came back from 4 very intense days. Our live debut in Moscow and Kiev were just a fukkin hellride, this shows seriously kicked our asses.
Thanx for support and hospitality to all the guys, that were involved to bring BELPHEGOR over. Especially to Peter, Alexey, Sergey, Dmitry and Gerd/Soundman. We visited the Rote Platz, Hinrichtungsstädte and the Kreml, the temperature was around -20 degrees celsius.
Also total death hails to the banging demons that showed up at the venues and screamed their lungs out. We can't wait to blast you all once again, total respect and see ya soon. Some images from the event in Moscow you will find here - click!

Deicide : release date set for new albumJune 6, 2006 [06/06/06] is the newly announced release date for "The Stench of Redemption", the eighth full-length studio album from Deicide, one of Florida's longest-running death metal bands. "The Stench of Redemption" is the band's second record to be released on Earache Records, and the follow-up to 2004's "Scars of the Crucifix". Deicide signed with Earache in 2003 after having released six albums, a demo collection and a live album on Roadrunner Records.
Deicide is entering its twentieth year of existence, though only its second full year without long-time guitarists Brian and Eric Hoffman. The Hoffman brothers left the band in 2004, and were ultimately replaced by former Cannibal Corpse guitarist Jack Owen and Ralph Santolla who had been a member of Death and Iced Earth. The band has had a long history of generating an odious response amongst the religious community in their home state, including an open condemnation by televangelist Bob Larson. Outspoken frontman Glen Benton hopes to generate further controversy with the new album, quipping, "this record will have you shitting your pants and denouncing the faith like the days of old!"

Benediction : news on the new albumLong-standing UK death metallers BENEDICTION have set "Killing Music" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in June/July. "Why break something if it is not broken?" We have been a team for nearly 17 years and see no reason to end that relationship!"
"Killing Music" will mark the recording debut with the group of new drummer Nick Barker (ex-CRADLE OF FILTH, ex-DIMMU BORGIR). "This will be our first new release since 2001," the band write. "It took so long because we just didn't jell with any other drummers — Nick is the man."
Following the album's release, the band will be appearing at festivals worldwide over the summer, followed by a full-blown world tour starting in September. The "No Reunion Needed" tour is "going to last a long time," according to the band. "We are calling it that because we are seeing so many bands reforming purely because extreme music is becoming popular again," they write. "We have been here since day one. We — along with our fanbase — have rode the ups and downs of this business and taken the rough with the smooth and still carried on regardless of trends."
With regards to the musical style on "Killing music", the band said, "The new album has a few new styles on it, along with the punk/death riffs that we like so much. The drumming on our new tracks totally transformed the songs. Nick is awesome on that bastard kit of his."
BENEDICTION have been confirmed as one of the headliners of the 2006 edition of the Fuck the Commerce festival, set to take place May 25-27 at MZA (Mehrzweckhalle) in Luckau, Germany.

Review : Decapitated - Organic HallucinosisThere are probably two things you'll notice right away about "Organic Hallucinosis". Firstly, you'll notice that the music often echoes Behemoth. Next, it should be apparent that the vocals are quite a bit higher pitched here, than on older Decapitated albums, when Sauron was the singer. Covan doesn't growl or bellow nearly as much as most other death metal bands; his vocals are actually quite intelligible, and I'd say the Meshuggah and Fear Factory comparisons aren't far off. This vocal style may take some death metal diehards a while to get used to, but it also helps this band to stand out from other bands, like the aforementioned Behemoth.
As is the case with Decapitated's earlier albums, "Organic Hallucinosis" is a friggin' monster! The six string guitar attacks form a rock hard, impenetrable rhythm section for Covan to bark over. But, as with most great death metal, there is somewhat of a method to this album's mayhem. The drumming is precise, and the riffs are very technical and sometimes even catchy.
"A Poem About an Old Man" is a scorching album opener which has explosive riffs and a pounding double bass. Later on, "Day 69" has a thunderous, jackhammer beat and is capped off by a searing guitar solo. "Post (?) Organic" begins as a lightning fast, almost buzzsaw flurry of guitars, but a tempo change kicks in and the beat becomes rhythmic and choppy, with punching power chords that sound like shotgun fire. "Visual Delusion" has heavy, churning guitars and an insanely fast and brutal blast beat, and, finally, "Invisible Control" is an almost deafening album closer.
"Organic Hallucinosis" is somewhat short (only 32 minutes long), but what's here is gold! If you like bands like Behemoth, Cryptopsy, and Nile, you should definitely pick this up. It's definitely the best extreme metal album of 2006 so far, and probably one of the best to be released all year long.

REVIEW: Dark Fortress - SeanceHave you ever wanted to break into an old, abandoned house at night for the sheer kick of it? And if you already did, ever wanted to summon up a ghost while you were standing there? Alone, in the dark confines of a home where, maybe, someone died in mysterious circumstances? Alone, trying to catch what the whispering voices behind you were trying to say?
Too much of a wussy to go through all this? Then buy this record. Why? Because it's the same, actually. If you want a good scare but are too lazy or chicken to visit the nearest haunted house (everyone has 'em), put on your headphones, close the shutters, kill the lights and enjoy the ride.
Dark Fortress have accomplished their mission: to record an album that combines the olden day-grittyness with the presentation of modern black metal. This results in an epic journey where you find yourself in places where you would never dare to go in real life. It's up to your fantasy to decide what those places are, but they're not happy ones, for sure.
No matter in what direction they travel, Dark Fortress is excellent in what they present. But it's particularly the speedy bits where we experience the majesty of Dark Fortress. Add to this a multitude of ambient ('incide'), slow bits filled with weird and undefineable noises and sounds and you've got a cocktail of haunted horrificness. This is the way black metal should be played. Perfect!
REVIEW: Rise And Fall - Into ObilivionIf there existed mobs which would be involved in killing trends, these four individuals would be among the top of the business. This is no-nonsense, clenched-fist, furious hardcore. Ten songs, thirty minutes of rage is what you get here. The sound of this album is uncompromisingly hard. Bulldozing from one song into the next, you'll get what you bargained for if you've bought this record. I'm not going to name names or put into categories. This is Rise And Fall, this is a pummeling kick in the teeth. The guitar grinds with a capital 'G', the bass is gut-crunching, the drums hit the spot every time and the singer is very, VERY angry to say the least.
Be on the lookout when these four people come to your town. I can assure you they bring along this attitude when they hit the stage, and then some.
Songs I enjoy the most are 'into oblivion' and 'lost among the lost'. Pissed off and looking for a record to scream along to in your car or room? Then get this one. I know I was relaxed after 30 minutes of Rise And Fall.
REVIEW: Neuraxis - Trilateral ProgressionBlame Canada...for having brilliant bands.
Seriously, take a look at Cryptopsy, Kataklysm, Into Eternity, Martyr, Gorguts and the likes. Add Neuraxis to that bunch and you've got something to kick some ass with.
Again it's the Willowtip-people - brilliant people! -, who signed this band. Will there ever come an end to their follow-up of unique bands? I hope not!
For about thirty seconds, we are gently welcomed into the Neuraxis-universe. And then, abruptly, we get sucked into the musical equivalent of the cyclone that is Neuraxis. Blasting its way into your ears, the album twists and turns and rarely takes prisoners. Be prepared for plenty of breaks, rythm-changes and speed-bursts. Luckily, the furious five did not forget to include some melody in their compositions. Avid Death-fans should take a look into this one, as the melo-parts are close to the ones their number one band produced. Although this record can be classified under 'technical progressive death', the songs are fairly easy to get into, which is a talent where Neuraxis should be proud of. This album is without a doubt Neuraxis' best.
Best song, in my opinion, is 'shatter the wisdom'. Contender for 'riff-of-the-year'. Dig it.

Cannibal Corpse : statement about Wacken 2006 cancellationWe regret to announce that we have to cancel our appearance at the Wacken Open Air in 2006. The cancellation is due to a scheduling conflict with a large tour in the USA that we will be appearing on. We have now been told that the USA tour(more details about this tour will be released on February 15th) will run from July 7th to August 13th, where originally we had been told that it would likely run from June until July. We would not have scheduled a Wacken performance if we had been aware of this conflict.
We were really looking forward to playing Wacken, so we are quite disappointed that this has to happen, but we did not want to cancel a month long tour to perform a single concert. We are very sorry to all of our fans who were planning to see us at Wacken, and also to the festival organizers, who are in no way responsible for our cancellation. We hope to perform at Wacken again in the years to come, but unfortunately this year it is not possible.

Panzerchrist : studio updateStudio update:
As previously posted we are now in the studio recording "Batallion Beast". Things are moving forward-slowly. As work proceeded it became obvious that Bent's style of drumming didn't really fit the style of Panzerchrist, so we decided to replace him. Bent had been suffering from illness and lacked stamina. Drums will as of now be performed by Reno" The fastest feet in the world" Kiilerich. Reno was the obvious choice and we are glad to be working with him again. Expect nothing but the end of the world as we know it. All bow to the Batallion beast.

Gorefest : European tour cancellationDue to severe problems at the side of german agency Bruchstein Records, we have been forced to cancel our entire European tour. We are extremely disappointed with the way things have been dealt with, and as such have lost all faith in the whole operation. Rest assured we're working very hard to try and salvage as much from this wreckage as possible, and hope to do most of these shows properly at a later time. Our sincere apologies to everyone who has been waiting for so long to see us, and now have to wait even longer. We'd also like to apologize to Master, Lunafield, Ressurecturis, and Kragens. Just like you guys, we were all geared up and ready to go. Decisions like these are not easily made but as much as we wanted to do this, things have been turning rapidly into a farce. As we refuse to be toyed with, there really was no other choice.

Mayhem : news updateSeason Of Mist Records have issued the following MAYHEM update:
As some of you may already know, Mayhem have set "Ordo Ab Chao" as the title of their new album, due later this year. The band's upcoming CD will mark their first release with vocalist Attila Csihar (TORMENTOR, ABORYM) since their 1993 album, "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas". Attila rejoined Mayhem in November 2004 as the replacement for departed singer Maniac (real name: Sven Erik Kristiansen).
In a recent interview with Decibel magazine, bassist Necrobutcher (real name: Jorn Stubberud) said about Attila's addition to the group: "It's the inspiration we all needed in Mayhem. Attila is more committed to the band than almost all three of us together, and that inspires us too. The songs from the rehearsal place sound great. We still have the same aggressiveness. Everything you want from Mayhem is there. We didn't give in to any kind of commercial thoughts in any way. It's a step from our last album again. If you have our discography, then you will see that every album is completely different, which has something to do with the fact that we usually take two or three or four years in between each recording. There's only so much you can do with a guitar and a drum kit and a bass. We want to show our fans and ourselves that MAYHEM will always be quality over quantity. I'm pleased to say that we have released 38 songs in 21 years. It's all those bootlegs that make the Mayhem collection look so fucking huge."

Moonlyght : Dan Swano will be mixing next albumYou can listen to a "lo-fi" sample, "Middle", that's going to be on our forthcoming second album.
The drums were recorded with 4 mics on a Roland VS-840, the keyboards were recorded on Theo's computer while the guitars, bass and all vocals were recorded using Fred's gear. This is not even a rough mix, as no work has been done with the recording yet, so expect something definately better once the album will be released in 2006.
7 songs have been recorded in the preproduction process, and there are still 2 more songs that may still see the light of day with the album recording session.Click here to hear it!
This will be a very busy beginning of 2006 for Moonlyght. We will enter Nokturn Studio in Quebec City at the end of February to record the new album. The working title is simply entitled "TWO", and should feature, as previously said, 8 songs. The mixing process will be handled by mastermind Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Nightingale, Bloodbath) at his famous Unisound Studio in Sweden! We will keep you updated very often when we will begin the recording sessions in February.

Iron Maiden : Nike will be releasing an Iron Maiden shoeAccording to a posting at Hypebeast, Nike are set to release a strictly limited IRON MAIDEN shoe. Iincluded in the article are a number of images that seems to dispel any notion this may be an early April Fool's joke.
According to people at Niketalk, only 24 pairs of the Nike SB "Iron Maiden" Dunk high shoes will be made. The Dunk will feature a clear swoosh to show off the IRON MAIDEN artwork as well as the words "Iron Maiden" embroidered onto the heel of the shoe.
Check out pictures of the shoe at MaidenFans.com.
