Suidakra : writing new materialNow to the future. The songwriting for the new album has started and is going well -- in fact, four new songs have been written so far. Unfortunately, Marcel will be having some surgery done on his shoulder at the end of the month, which means that the band will have to take a short break in rehearsing and writing new material. Fear not, however, as the new record is still planned for release in autumn 2006.

Blood Red Throne : Lineup shift before European tourNorway's Death Metal demons Blood Red Throne have had some changes within their ranks recently. New members Vald (vocals) and Anders (drums) will be joining current members Dod, Tchort and Erlend for their upcoming European tour with Mortician and Akercocke this coming November.
According to guitarist and founding member Dod, former vocalist Mr. Hustler could no longer continue with Blood Red Throne due his occupational commitments. Meanwhile, former drummer Espen "Beist" Antonsen was not available to perform and rehease with the band as often as other members would've liked so the band opted for someone within a closer vicinity to the rest of the members. Dod also said that he was excited about taking the new line-up out on the road, stating, "we're ready to kick ass live!"

Callenish Circle : New album readyHolland's most deadly Death/Thrash formation CALLENISH CIRCLE recently finished the recordings of their new (and meanwhile 5th) album. The new album is titled "[ Pitch.Black.Effects ]" and it was recorded at aRe U Recordings in Holland under supervision of producer Gail Liebling. The final mix was done at the well-known Antfarm Studio in Denmark with Tue Madsen (a.o. THE HAUNTED, ILLDISPOSED, MNEMIC). Mastering duties were handled again by Peter Neuber at Mega Wimp Sound in Germany. Last but not least, the complete artwork was created by Danish art talent Mircea Gabriel Eftemie at Cadaverman Media.
Official statement from guitar player Ron on the new album:
"This time we decided to record, mix and master the album on different locations. We recorded the album over here in Holland with our long-time (live) sound-engineer Gail Liebling and the final mix was done in Denmark with Tue Madsen at his Antfarm Studio. Last but not least the mastering was done by Peter Neuber at Mega Wimp Sound and this turned out to be a perfect combination. The sound is absolutely killer! Gail, who is also responsible for all digital / wacky sounds on 'My Passion // Your Pain', was also involved in the writing process now. Result is that the amount of digital sounds increased, also being more integrated in the music, which turned out great. I think we made a big step forward regarding production and song writing and we're very anxious to hear what the fans and press think of it.
"What we think... groovy as hell, catchy as Justin Timberlake and heavy as fuck!
"You'll be surprised, that's for sure!"
The European release for "[ Pitch.Black.Effects]" is scheduled for the 14th of November 2005 through Metal Blade Records.

Vehemence : has called his quits8 years after it all started, we decided that now is the time to throw in the towel. It was fun, and we would like to thank all the people who have supported us along the way. Vehemence was and is a huge part of our lives, but at this point its time to start fresh. The death of Vehemence has since spawned 3 new bands from its ex members. Abigail Williams featuring Mark, Andy and Bjorn of Vehemence (www.myspace.com/abigailwilliams), He Who Binds Himself featuring Nathan(www.myspace.com/hewhobindshimself), and as John stated “I'm looking for members for a new band and I am also available for touring. Currently I'm also affiliated with several other side projects which I will release soon.”
We still have a batch of new shirts coming this year, as well as a new remixed version of our first self released disc entitled The Thoughts From Which I Hide, that will be available exclusively at www.vehemence.com. Vehemence may do shows every now and then, but will not be a full time band. Just keep checking our website as that will still be up and running.

Arch Enemy : European tour diaryMichael from Arch Enemy posted a tour diary at the band's offcial website :
Hello all Arch Enemy fans! Yes, we are on the road again...
The European tour has started off so well that we are all quite amazed about it! Firstly, the places we have played so far have been nice and packed - and full of METAL energy - which always makes it so much more fun to play! Our support act Trivium are tearing it up too - making us work harder, just the way it should be! Cool band and nice guys.
Also it's been working out really, really well with Fredrik Akesson on guitar - he's really nailing it - this guy a deadly guitarist! We are having a great time hanging out jamming and playing the shows... I'd like to thank all the fans at the shows so far for giving him so much support - you guys are really the best!
We started in Paris, which always very special and strong for us...a lot of people at that show and super cool reaction, we were a little nervous as it was the first show with Fredrik, but it turned out be just fine! A BIG thank you to Frederic + Laurent and all the members from the Dark Enemy fanclub - you guys rule! Paris wins the "loudest singing along" prize so far!

Amon Amarth : Metal Blade 10th anniversary show filmed for DVDWe just got home from an awesome weekend we spent partying at Metal Blade Europe's 10th anniversary. Saturday we were taken to a genuine german beergarten including lots and lots of beer, standing on the tables, arm wrestling and roller coasting! On Sunday at the actual party we had an excellent time where we did an exclusive set, including some stuff we haven't played live for a very long time! For instance, how about; "Sorrow throughout the nine worlds", "god, his son and holy whore", "thor arise", "...and soon the world will cease to be" and a cover of six feet under's "revenge of the zombie" - with backing vocals by none less then Brian Slagel, and of course Michael and co. from the metal blade Europe office! But don't worry if you were not able to see the show, it was all recorded and will be included in the DVD, together with the special Köln show, which will be released early next year!

Emperor : interview about the reunionBlack metal legends EMPEROR reunited after four years to play a surprise three-song set for Norwegian metal magazine Scream's 15-year anniversary which took place at Oslo's Rockefeller Friday night (Sept. 30). Norwegian metal radio show "Tinitus" was at the venue to witness the historical moment. In exclusive interview conducted in English with the radio show producer Patrizia Mazzuoccolo prior to the gig, original members Ihshan and Samoth, alongside drummer Trym, discussed the reason behind the event. "We are not playing a full show tonight," Samoth explained. "This is a short teaser that we are using to announce full headline shows we are doing next year. This is a cooler way of announcing them instead of telling people through our web site." It was announced last night after the band's set that EMPEROR will headline the Inferno festival and Wacken Open Air next year.
The illustrious black metal band, whose split in 2001 took the scene by surprise, performed three tracks — "The Loss And Curse Of Reverence", "I Am The Black Wizards", "Inno A Satana" — and received a rapturous welcome by an ecstatic crowd. Announced as a "big surprise band," the whole arrangement was so secret that neither organizers of the magazine's anniversary party nor the band itself told their closest friends and associates until yesterday — amongst others, original EMPEROR drummer Faust, a member of SCUM alongside guitarist Samoth, was not present. "It's been a pain in the ass to keep it from friends actually," offers Samoth, "but we had to do it properly or not do it at all so we decided to keep it as secret as we could. Faust is doing a show in Notodden with BLOOD TSUNAMI tonight so he couldn't have made it anyway…"
With Samoth and Trym recording a third ZYKLON album in November and Ihshan releasing a solo album in March next year, what are the probabilities of a new EMPEROR release?
Hear the whole exclusive interview on "Tinitus" on Wednesday, October 5 on Norwegian national radio channel P3. "Tinitus" is on every Wednesday from 20:00 (8:00 p.m.) to 22:00 (10:00 p.m.) on P3. The show is also available on the Internet: www.nrk.no/tinitus.

Slayer : Kerry King interview with Metal HammerU.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine recently conducted an interview with SLAYER guitarist Kerry King. Several excerpts from the chat follow:
Metal Hammer: Shouldn't you be releasing a record soon? It's been four years since "God Hates Us All".
Kerry King: "It seems like everybody under the sun says, 'We want a new record,' but at the same time, they keep saying, 'We'd really like you to come back on tour.' That shit bumps everything on the backburner. The funny this is Dave [Lombardo, drums] and me have had a 10-song demo we did up at his house that's been lying around since March 2004. I know Jeff [Hanneman, guitar] has written a couple , and I've written a couple more since then, so this week we're going to start the process of getting back together and nailing this thing. With luck, we'll start recording by September. I'm hoping to work with Dave Sardy, who was with us for 'Undisputed Attitude'. Lombardo wants Rick Rubin for drums, and I've no problems with that because, in my opinion, it's what he's best at. But I think we're all pretty much agreed that the overall producer will be Sardy."
Metal Hammer: Is Lombardo back for keeps now?
Kerry King: "As far as I know, Dave is back in the band. It was 12 years we were apart, and that's 12 years of growing up for everybody. Actually, I think we're probably a better band because of it. It seems to me like Dave's having a great time, and I know he gets up in front of some of those 30,000 crowds and thinks, 'Man, this rocks!' he's playing better than he's ever played."
Metal Hammer: It's every metal geek's dream. The original, class-of-1982 SLAYER lineup reunited.
Kerry King: "Exactly. Having Dave back in the band is one of the highlights of my whole time in SLAYER. There are kids that could've been into us for over 10 years that never got to see us the way we are meant to be. I just saw ANTHRAX at one of those Euro festivals with Joey [Belladonna] — and I liked John Bush to death, y'know, he was a great singer — but something just happens when Joey plays. As for [JUDAS] PRIEST, when Ripper joined, I didn't see 'em once."
Metal Hammer: Having been around for almost a quarter of a century, what do you think SLAYER did right that the other pioneers of the thrash movement did wrong?
Kerry King: "Well, we never took time off from the thrash movement like METALLICA did. We didn't get sidetracked by pop music like MEGADETH did. We didn't lose our frontman like ANTHRAX did. I probably felt competition with those bands at the time thrash was taking off, but we always knew that none of those bands were better than us. We just went out and kept doing our thing."
Metal Hammer: What do you think went wrong for METALLICA?
Kerry King: "One word: 'Load'. But also, whenever you think enough of yourself to play with an orchestra, that's when you're too big. People say to us, 'When are you guys going to do that?' And I'm like, 'Never.'"
Metal Hammer: You've had your fair share of run-ins with MEGADETH over the years.
Kerry King: "People say, 'What's your problem with [Dave] Mustaine?' To which I say, 'Well, he's a cocksucker, for one thing.' But my problem with MEGADETH is, I don't know who that band is anymore. It's like the METALLICA thing. Who's METALLICA? Is METALLICA the band that did 'Master of Puppets' and 'Ride the Lightning', or is METALLICA the band who got to the point where they felt they could put out 'Load' and 'Reload'? It's lie, 'Who are you?'"
Metal Hammer: How long can you keep this up? It's hard to imagine SLAYER not being around.
Kerry King: "It's hard to put a time scale on it. I do know I can't do this for another 25 years. We're more of a physical band than a band like [BLACK] SABBATH, who can keep coming back. Tony [Iommi] is a great guitar player, but if you put a time-lapse camera on him, he'd probably move 10 feet the whole show. We can't be like that. If we had to come and do a show when I was 60, I'd probably bust a vertebra."
