"Generator" track listing:

Ruinrama Kolossal S.P.Q.R.

Gorefest : video shoot report

Reunited Dutch metallers GOREFEST have posted a report from the video shoot for their new track "For the Masses" at their official web site. Also available are several photos taken during the shoot. Check them out at Gorefest.nl.

As previously reported, several audio samples from GOREFEST's upcoming album, "La Muerte", are available for download at this location. The CD is scheduled for release in Europe on October 31 via Nuclear Blast Records.

"La Muerte" was recorded at Excess studio in Rotterdam, Holland with engineer Hans Pieters. Mixing duties were handled in August by Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, ABORTED, DISBELIEF, BORN FROM PAIN) at Antfarm studio in Denmark. A video for the album's opening track, "For the Masses", was recently shot with director Maurice Swinkels of LowLife Media (EXODUS, ABORTED, PRIMAL FEAR).

GOREFEST issued several CDs through the Nuclear Blast label in the early 1990s before switching to SPV for their last album, 1998's "Chapter 13".

Nuclear Blast Records reissued the entire GOREFEST back catalog in July, complete with unreleased tracks, demos and other rarities. Everything was remastered, and booklets contain liner notes by renowned Dutch journalist and writer Robert Haagsma, along with many pics from the band's own private stash. In addition, Nuclear Blast has thrown in a cool box in which to store all the CDs from the collection.

Serbian promotor blames NILE for cancelled Belgrade show

Konstantin Polzovic, chief editor of regional Metal Hammer magazine for Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, has issued the following statement on behalf of Awaken Booking, the company responsible for arranging NILE's aborted concert in Belgrade, Serbia on September 23:

"We were supposed to organize NILE's show on their current European tour, on 23th of September. [On Thursday, Sept. 22], one day before the show, we got information that the band was stuck on Slovenian/Croatian border and that they couldn't cross Croatia as they didn't have the papers required to bring all the stuff they were carrying on their tour bus. Of course, we called the [booking agency for the tour, Belgium's Metallysee] and told [them] that they could simply skip Croatia by going over Hungary (bordering country with Slovenia, see the map please!) and easlly come to Serbia where we would fix all the paperwork in 5 minutes and they would freely enter Serbia.

"The band and [the booking agency] decided not to go here as they saw it as a risk, canceling the show in Serbia and going to Greece by the ferry! They [ignored] our calls that we already had 200 pre-sold tickets here, that there was tons of fans coming from Macedonia and Bulgaria as well! Simply, they canceled the show and that's it! No matter what, no matter that we're not the same country, no matter that they can enter our country!

"The biggest absurdity is that [booking agency],
Metallysee, organized several shows in Serbia and Croatia in the past and all the time they simply didn't follow all rules with papers. They knew that they needed it and again they didn't arrange this.

"We simply wanted to say it, write it here, as we as part who organize the show here stayed 101% stuck with everything just because of one thing, total lack of professionalim [on the part] of Metalysee! And NILE as band showed to their AMAZING Serbian true fans that they simply don't care about them!!!

"We're clean here, and them... it's on you who read it to make your decision!"

Swedish death metallers NECROPHOBIC have posted the following message on their official web site:

"As mentioned earlier here on the website,
NECROPHOBIC will have a small piece of soundtrack in a new criminal series, 'Medicinmannen' (The Medicine Man), on national Swedish television (TV4) which [started on Sunday, Sept. 25] at 21:00, Swedish time (CET+1). The series is featuring great actors like Mikael Persbrandt, Reine Brynolfsson, Nina Gunke and Philip Zandén and is broadcasted in 8 episodes. The information we have got regarding this is that about 8-10 minutes into episode 4, our music will be played in the background in a café scene. The date for that episode will be October 16." NECROPHOBIC are currently writing material for their fifth album, tentatively due in 2006. Among the track set to appear on the CD is "Blinded by Light, Enlightened by Darkness", which the band recently performed at the Party.San Open Air festival in Germany.

New Akercocke songs online

Two brand-new AKERCOCKE tracks, "Verdelet" and "The Penance", have been posted online at www.myspace.com/akercocke. The songs come off the U.K. black/death metallers' fourth album, "Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone", tentatively due in early 2006 via Earache Records.

The follow-up to 2003's "Choronzon", "Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone" was recorded at the band's own Goat of Mendes studios in West London and was mixed by Neil Kernon (NEVERMORE, CANNIBAL CORPSE).

Regarding the musical direction of the new CD, AKERCOCKE frontman Jason Mendonca recently had the following to say: "The new material is a progression again from 'Choronzon'. The core AKERCOCKE elements are there — harrowing dissonances, bludgeoning brutality and cacodaemonic sonic assaults all feature but once again we have expanded the AKERCOCKE sound to include more rich and diverse textures, not necessarily bound by the confines of death and black metal."

"Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone" marks the recording debut with the group of new guitarist Matthew Wilcock, who replaced Paul Scanlan earlier in the year.

"Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone" tentative track listing:

01. Verdelet
02. Seduced
03. Shelter from the Sand
04. Eyes of the Dawn
05. Dying in the Sun
06. Words That Go Unspoken (Part 1)
07. Intractable (Words That Go Unspoken Part 2)
08. Seraphs and Silence
09. The Penance
10. Lex Talionis

Arch Enemy : New guitar player

Arch Enemy have now settled on Fredrik Akesson as a replacement for Chris Amott (guitar) for the continued “Doomsday Machine” touring campaign...

Michael Amott comments:
“This guy, he just simply kills on the axe!Rhythms and Leads – he’s really got a shredding and musical style. He was down here rehearsing with us last week and we had a great time playing music and hanging out. We are eagerly looking forward to hitting the road again, this time with Fredrik on board the good ship Arch Enemy.“

Fredrik Akesson, born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden first picked up the guitar at the age of 12, discovered Michael Schenker at the age of 14 and has been hooked on the “shred” ever since! Other early influences include Uli Jon Roth, Yngwie Malmsteen and George Lynch.

Over the years Fredrik has lent his awesome guitar talent to such varied artists such as Talisman, John Norum, Krux, Tiamat and his own (now defunct) group, Southpaw.

Fredrik Akesson comments on joining forces with Arch Enemy:

“Hi all ARCH ENEMY fans! I was really thrilled when Michael Amott called me up and gave me the opportunity to play with Arch Enemy. I am excited about going on tour with them, and to meet you all. C-Ya out there – it’s time to burn! /Fredrik”

Satyricon : news on the new album

Sorry for not keeping touch lately, but we`ve been busy working! We are in middle of pre-production for our new album and we will start recording October 17th in Puk Studio in Denmark where we did most of "Volcano". We aim to finish the album in January followed by a late spring release. This means we should be ready to do a big festival run throughout the summer and hit the clubs in the fall. Things change and they can change fast too in this industry, but this is what we plan to do as it looks now. We`ll keep you posted about this and other projects we are working on too , throughout the fall.

Ensiferum : Line-up change

As some of you may have already noticed, there`s been a new man behind the drums at the live concerts during the past six months. Janne Parviainen has been substituting for Oliver Fokin and is now a steady member. The main reason for this change in the band was that there were too many differences of interests.

Small Obituary interview with John Tardy

I was surfing the web (like I always too) and came across Obituary's site. Since I'm a fucking huge fan of Obituary I was curious if John would answer my email. I asked him a few questions.... next time the mail will be a lot more structured.... Anyways BIG THANKS TO JOHN!!

Here are the questions :
- what was the motivation for this comeback
- it was always a matter of time before we got going so it is no suprise to me. We just felt the time was right and were ready to get going again.
- did you guys felt any pressure releasing Frozen In Time because you guys are one of the deathmetal godfather's.
Thank you. Not really. We just always do what we like to do and when we like to do it. We know we can't make everyone happy - change to much, not change enought - so we don't even try.
- how was touring Europe (do you guys remember Belgium or not)
Belgium was great! The festivals in Europe are always a lot of fun but also a lot of work for us and travel!
- do you guys prefer club shows or festivals
they both have good and bad about them. The big crowds are nice and playing with bands like Slayer, Iron Maiden and Motorhead rules!!! But it is a lot of travel and work for us because we do not "tour" Europe in the summer. Too many other bands to compete with so we have all these festival spread out that we try to do.
- whats the band opinion on the nowadays metal scene (any good bands around? or stick to the old school?)
When it comes to Metal I am definately old school! I like my Slayer, Frost and Venom..sorry but I just don't listen to that much new stuff!...Frozen in Time...
- Favourite Obituary release?
I really think our new album is the best and heaviest thing we have done.
- craziest show story?
Big Al pasted out for a photo shoot! We held him up to do the photos.

Thanks for the support and see you around...John Tardy

Thank you John for this small interview. I'll see you soon when you guys are touring with Samael.

Vinnie Paul speaks

Former PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul was recently interviewed by Guitar World magazine for its December 2005 issue. In the interview Vinnie spoke about many subjects, including the possibility of a PANTERA reunion prior to Dimebag's death and the status of unreleased video and audio recordings of Dimebag. Among the things Vinnie said:

*
Vinnie confirmed that he has started a record label that will release a "DIMEvision" DVD and the DAVID ALAN COE/PANTERA project REBEL MEETS REBEL around Christmas.

*
Vinnie stated that there was never going to be a PANTERA reunion, even before the tragedy with Dime. Vinnie said, "Let's make this clear once and for all: for any fan out there that believed any of the bullshit said by certain people, there never was gonna be a PANTERA reunion, ever."

* Vinnie also informed us that DAMAGEPLAN had songs written and recorded for their sophmore album. Vinnie says he doesn't know what he is going to do with the material. " Vinnie said, "Either I'll have some of Dime's favorite singers sing on 'em and turn them into jams, or maybe Pat (Lachman, ex-DAMAGEPLAN) will sing on them and it'll be DAMAGEPLAN 2. I don't know yet. Right now they're magic that hopefully someday everybody will get to hear, and as long as I'm around I think eventually they will get heard."

*
Vinnie also talked about the pre-"Cowboys from Hell" PANTERA albums, Anselmo-era PANTERA albums, Dime getting asked to join MEGADETH, how PANTERA got signed to Atco, Meeting Alex and Eddie Van Halen, and his own musical future. Vinnie said, "I've got to find the right situation."

*
Vinnie also talked about the tragedy involving Dime. Vinnie had a special request he wanted everyone to hear. Vinnie said, "I have a hard time believeing that some nut job just shot the best friend I have ever had for no reason. So, I'd just like to spread the message to anybody out there, that if you know or hear anything about it, please contact the authorities and let 'em know what you know."

Some great news

Fucking excited!

U.S. epic melodic death metallers
ARSIS are scheduled to release their new three-song EP, "A Diamond for Disease", on October 25 via Willowtip Records. Featuring the 13-minute title track, originally composed as a score for New York City's Ballet Deviare, "A Diamond for Disease" is said to be "by far the band's most advanced material to date, as it was written from a standpoint of orchestral-like complexity, and as such, embraces a painstaking degree of detail in both harmony arrangement and melodic counterpoint." "A Diamond For Disease" was recorded with Eyal Levi (MISERY INDEX) at Hairy Breakfast Productions and mastered by James Murphy (DEATH, TESTAMENT, DISINCARNATE). The artwork and layout was created by the talented Mark Riddick. A three-minute sample of the epic 13-minute title track is available at ARSIS' official web site and Willowtip's official web site. ARSIS will perform live with Ballet Deviare January 6-8, 2006 at 59E59 Theaters in New York City. More information is available at www.balletdeviare.org.

Last day of vacation

This is the last day of my vacation. Monday I need to start working again after 3 weeks of lazyness. I don't really look forward to it but as a lot off you guys do, I need to earn some cash.

My day probably will start with shaking hands with more then 40 peeps (or I should start earlier so they can come to me). After that I'll read my mail from the last 3 weeks.I probably read some interesting mails but I'm quite sure there will be a lot more uninteresting mails.

After that it will be time for my coffee break.

15 minutes later I'll start working on a project I started before the holidays. I'll be using a lot of BusinnesObjects and Excel.

At 12:45 I'll be taking my break till 13.15.
At 13:30 I have a meeting with my boss till 14.30.
After that I can work some more on my project and my guess is I'll be leaving at 4PM.

Now playing : Deströyer 666 - Phoenix Rising (I am the wargod on repeat)

Added some band links

I added some band links on the side-bar. If you have some bands you wanna see added, just write me an email at athwart666@spiked-death.com
or just comment here.

Right now I'm listening to Death - Leprosy. I think Death was one of the most influential bands for the deathmetal scene. They played a complex and highly technical style of deathmetal.
The band was formed somewhere in 1983 (first as Mantas, in 1984 they changed it to Death). The line-up of the band changed a lot but Chuck Schuldiner has always been the main man of the band. Chuck always collected some great musicians around him like Steve DiGiorgio, Gene Hoglan and many more.
In 1999 Chuck was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After more then 2 years of struggling he died on the 13th of December 2001.

RIP Chuck

First one

This is my first post on this blog-thingie.
I wanna fill this with the things I like most in live. Things like music (grindcore, deathmetal and some blackmetal),
soccer (my favourite team RSCA ) will be the main thing on this blog.

While I'm writing this I'm listening to Diabolic - Supreme Evil. This is one of my alltime favourite discs. A fucking sick grunt, perfect guitar solos and the most important : enough variation in the songs to keep it interesting every time you listen.
Unfortunaly they broke up somewhere in 2004. 3 of the members started a new band called Unholy Ghost.
Check them out!
